About us

mask workshopParticipation

Aqueous Humour has been committed to engaging communities in public performance and street theatre since being founded in 2001.

We have a commitment to participation in the arts with a view to encouraging personal development through fun, play and creativity.

Our artistic focus is inspired and influenced by:

Bouffons – a physical grotesque clowning style speaking from the voice of the socially excluded to the powers that be.

Commedia dell’arte – a masked performance style where the craft of mask making and improvised performance come together.

CYAC chessPast Projects

Since 2001, we have been working in partnership with Proud and Loud Arts, Salford and with Contact Young Actors Company, most recently creating a site-specific piece at Manchester Museum in 2010. Our work with The Octagon Theatre’s, Activ8 dates back to 2005 when we developed a piece of strolling theatre for summer festivals that the group performed in Padderborn, Germany.

We have created one off bespoke projects with organisations from across the North West including The Lowry, Liverpool Irish Festival, Catch 22, Activate, Rochdale Healthy Living Initiative, The Youth Service, M6 theatre and Skylight Circus.

For more information see our projects section.

M6 Golden FootballersCommitted to developing talent

We have consistently supported young talent from across the region providing progression routes for those interested in a carer in the arts. A number of our current regular professional performers and artists were introduced to us through our community projects as participants and project volunteers.
